For nearly 11 years I have worked as an Accessibility Coordinator at the University of Manitoba. My main cohort of students in the Student Accessibility Services office are those on the Autism Spectrum. Prior to working at the U of M, I worked with adults on the spectrum in residential settings. After starting my current position, I began researching the population of ASD and taking numerous courses in this field. In response to the challenges facing this population, I have created three significant programs to assist those student. They are the Academic Attendant Program, the Mentor Program and the Start Strong Program, an orientation geared specifically to students on the spectrum.
