Jean Ann Summers was the Principal Investigator of Access to Success. She was responsible for both the design of the training and implementation of the research plan to investigate its impact and feasibility. She has been at the University of Kansas for 40 years and has recently retired as a Research Professor. Her academic degree is from KU in the field of special education, where she has worked in a variety of research projects related to students with disabilities and their families. This includes investigations of early childhood interventions, family involvement in education, disability policy, statewide training for co-teaching, strategies for development of self-determination, distance and online learning for professionals as well as for students. Her research findings have been published in more than a hundred journal articles and books.
