Adapting to the Needs of Diverse Learners: A Closer Look at Students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Erica McMahon attended the University of NC at Greensboro, earned a Bachelor’s of Arts in Psychology. She went on to complete a Master’s of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling from Winston-Salem State University. She is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor and became a Certified Vision Specialist in Rehabilitation through Mississippi State University in 2010. Mrs. McMahon is currently employed as Disability Services Counselor with Forsyth Technical Community College. She serves as co-chair on the Technology Accessibility Committee. Erica has presented at several state conferences as well as to faculty and staff at her college. Most recently, she organized a series of events in honor of Disability Awareness Day. Erica possesses over 15 years' experience in working with children, adolescents, and adults with disabilities. She has worked with juvenile offenders, in acute psychiatric care facilities as well as residential facilities, and provided in-home care to persons with Autism.
