Animal Control: Policies and Processes for Handling the Increasing Number of Service/Assistance Animals on Campus

Leslie Johnson is a Psychiatric Ability Access specialist for the Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities (RCPD) at Michigan State University. In this role she works with students and employees on campus with psychiatric disabilities that need academic and/or employment accommodations. Specializing in this disability category has led to Leslie becoming very knowledgeable on Service and Assistance Animals. Leslie sits on the service/assistance animal committee at MSU, which makes changes and edits to the service/assistance animal policies and reviews all animal requests. Leslie received her Bachelor of Science degree from Michigan State University, Masters of Business Administration, and a Masters of Arts in Education. Leslie also plays an active role in the Michigan AHEAD chapter, and is the main contact for other colleges and universities in Michigan with service/assistance animal questions.
