Joel Greenup is a disabled masters’ student in public health who is also a graduate assistant for FIU Embrace. Through the work he does for FIU Embrace and the several conferences he has attended, Joel has gained the experience to give effective presentations. He helped make the pre-post survey for the event, was a speaker, and also served as one of the students to share their experiences in a group throughout the design thinking process. Currently, he facilitates seminars that teach independent living skills to developmentally disabled students. His experience presenting research at national and international conferences, working with FIU Embrace to address accessibility issues in FIU, and his attachment to the topic due to his condition indicates his readiness to serve as a presenter for this topic.
