Derek Malenczak, MS, CPRP is an Instructor who joined the Department of Psychiatric Rehabilitation & Counseling Professions in 2012. After working for the previous 13 years in community mental health agencies providing recovery-oriented services to adults with mental illness, Derek successfully transitioned to academia, working as a Cognitive Specialist for college students with mental health conditions. Derek received his Masters Degree in Psychiatric Rehabilitation from Rutgers in 2008. Derek participates in a wide variety of faculty activities, including classroom instruction, online instruction, and research examining barriers to online learning as well as the use of College Disability Services. Derek is currently pursuing a PhD in Psychiatric Rehabilitation, focusing on the college re-entry experience for students who have their education interrupted for psychiatric reasons.
