Collaboration across Campus

I have worked in Disability Services for 10 years. For 9 years, I worked at a small, private college and now am the Director of Accessibility Resources & Services at a large, public institution. Both settings create unique challenges related to collaboration and communication. In my former role as Director of Disability Services, I began the college’s Achieve Program, a specialized support program for students with learning differences. The formation of this program required exceptional communication skills in an effort to have the various offices across campus and faculty provide their support to the program. In my current role as Director of Accessibility at a large, public instruction, collaboration and communication are just as important although the strategies employed are sometimes different. As Director, I am charged with developing professional development opportunities for faculty and staff. I have developed workshops, videos, and online courses related to ADA and UDL.
