Barbara Zunder earned her B.S. from the University of Vermont, and immediately upon receiving her degree from Vermont, decided to trade in cold, snowy weather for cold, foggy weather in San Francisco, where she began working at the University of San Francisco in Student Disability Services. She received her M.A. from USF a few years later, and was immediately hired as a disability specialist with her first caseload of students. Barbara was at USF until 2015, working up eventually to Associate Director of SDS. At the end of 2015, she said her tearful goodbyes to her wonderful colleagues at USF and relocated to central Virginia, where she began her position as Director of the Student Disability Access Center at the University of Virginia. At UVA, Barbara oversaw the transition to a new data management system and a large increase in the overall SWD population. When not at work with her new (wonderful!) colleagues, she can be found enjoying time with her family and cooking.
