Creative approaches to Disability Justice: Entry Points on Campus for Awareness, Access, and Full Participation

Susan Burch is a professor in Middlebury College’s American Studies Program and a specialist in deaf and disability studies. A longtime practitioner of inclusive design in learning, Susan has led numerous workshops on pedagogical and curricular development, creating disability inclusive workplaces, and designing disability justice-oriented programs. Since 2015, Susan has served as co-facilitator of Middlebury College’s Advisory Group on Disability Access and Inclusion (AGDAI) whose mission is to increase awareness, deepen knowledge, cultivate skills and advise the college president and her senior leadership on matters intersecting with disability access and inclusion. She and AGDAI member Courtney Cioffredi (Student Accessibility Services) will be co-presenting on opportunities and barriers in addressing issues of access and full participation in an elite, residential liberal arts setting.
