Developing a Peer Mentoring Program: Design is the Key

Dr. Teresa Spoulos is the Project Director for the TRIO – Student Support Services Project for Students with Disabilities at San Diego State University. She has worked in the disability services field for over 25 years. She has worked as an advisor at both the community college and university level. For the past 15 months she has served as the TRIO Project Director. Dr. Spoulos has advance degrees in Rehabilitation Counseling and Educational Leadership. The TRIO project is a federally funded grant through the Department of Education. One of the objectives of the grant is to create a peer mentoring program for incoming students with disabilities to the university. Dr. Spoulos has managed the peer mentor program since fall semester 2018. In October 2019, Dr. Spoulos will be presenting a similar workshop session on peer mentoring at the California Association for Postsecondary Education and Disability conference.
