Examining the Neurodiverse Postsecondary Experience: A Qualitative Study

Author: Amy Thomas

I am entering my sixth academic year as a full-time faculty member, teaching in the Occupational Therapy Program at Alvernia University, Reading PA. As an occupational therapist, my clinical expertise was school-based practice, primarily supporting children and adolescents with neurodevelopmental disorders. I am new to conference presentation, having presented once previously – a research poster, at the 2017 Pennsylvania Occupational Therapy Association (POTA) Annual Conference, State College, PA. The poster presentation was entitled “Supporting Neurodiverse Students in Postsecondary Education”. I also conducted a poster presentation of my Occupational Therapy Doctoral capstone work: “Promoting Paraprofessional Competency to Assist Students with Autism Through an Occupation-based Training Module”.
