From the Source: Understanding the Needs of College Students with Autism

Author: Jessica Monahan

I have worked in special education for the last 10 years as an educator and a researcher. I am certified to teach in the state of Connecticut and am finishing my Ph.D. in special education with a focus on transition services. I have experience presenting at a number of national conferences in special education, with a specific focus on autism spectrum disorder, transition services, and higher education. These include Division on Career Development and Transition (DCDT), Council for Exceptional Children (CEC), and the Postsecondary Training Institute (PTI). The sessions and posters that I have presented at these conferences focus on the concept of preparing individuals with disabilities (ASD and intellectual disabilities, specifically) for college and career.
