Implementing Sustainable Change: How Humber College Deconstructed the Approach to Providing Note Taking Supports as an Academic Accommodation

Nora Simpson is the Associate Director, Accessible Learning Services at Humber College in Toronto, Ontario. In her role, she leads a talented team of accessibility professionals who promote inclusion on campus every day. Nora holds an Honours B.A. from the University of King’s College in Halifax N.S. and a Juris Doctor from Dalhousie Law School. After her call to the Ontario bar, Nora practiced law for 4 years specializing in the areas of poverty and human rights law. In 2010, Nora became an associate professor and acting program coordinator at Lambton College in Sarnia, Ontario. There, she developed and launched a new Law Clerk diploma program. Before joining Humber in 2013, Nora held an administrative position at Mohawk College in Continuing Education where she was responsible for faculty recruitment and development as well as curriculum revitalization. Nora is a regular conference presenter and a member of the executive for the College Committee on Disability Issues in Ontario. This organization is very similar to AHEAD’s state affiliates.
