Maria completed her masters in Rehabilitation Counseling at Utah State University in 2010 and is currently pursuing a PhD in Disability Disciplines-Rehabilitation Counseling. She is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor and also is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in the state of Utah. Maria has gained experiences working with individuals with a variety of disabilities in a variety of contexts while being employed by Utah State University as the EmployAbility Clinic Coordinator and then at Oxbow Academy working with adolescent boys with disabilities who had engaged in sexually inappropriate behavior. She has volunteered and worked in a variety of Equine-Assisted therapy programs where she gained a love for integrating animals and other experiential activities into therapeutic interventions. She currently works as the Central Access Administrator at Central Washington University where making higher education materials accessible is her primary goal.
