Let’s Get to Work: Using coordinated efforts and partnerships to assist students in overcoming barriers to internship and employment opportunities

Amanda Brown is the Associate Director of the University of Florida Disability Resource Center. Amanda has worked in this role, as well as in the role of a Learning Specialist, for the past eight years. She has a master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Florida, is Licensed as a Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida, and is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor. Amanda was also recently appointed by the Governor of Florida to the Rehabilitation Council which is a council committed to increasing employment, enhancing independence, and improving the quality of life for Floridians with disabilities. Employment and vocational services have been a significant focus for Amanda in working with students with disabilities at the University. She has developed critical partnerships with the University of Florida Career Resource Center as well as developed a comprehensive preparation and follow up program to coincide with the Federal Workforce Recruitment Program. Amanda is resourceful and dedicated to ensuring students with disabilities have equal opportunities to enter and maintain employment in the workforce.
