Sharing Stories and Meaning Making in Fostering Student Success

Author: Brent Wassermann

I am a Faculty member at Camosun College, located in beautiful Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. In this role I meet with students individually to discuss their academic goals and their accessibility needs while attending school. I also live with congenital disfigurements. My life experiences inform my practise and my relationships with students. I feel strongly that supporting students with accessibilities needs (disabilities) should also include discussions and teaching around self-awareness, self-advocacy, resiliency, and meaning making. I love my work and am passionate about these issues.
