Student Perceptions of Trauma Informed Care in Higher Education: Summary of Findings and Recommendations for Improved Practices

Author: aellison

Ashley Ellison is a McNair Scholar at Eastern Washington University. She is currently studying psychology and criminal justice. Ashley’s McNair project examines student perception of trauma informed instructional practices and services in higher education. Her topic is close to her heart, as she watched trauma informed practices work in her hometown of Walla Walla (district featured in Paper Tigers, 2016). Ashley has presented her findings at the National Conference for Undergraduate Research and enjoys presenting to important stakeholder groups, including her university’s Board of Trustees and Student Success and Retention Committee. She will be applying to graduate schools where she plans to continue to research the impact or trauma and the need for trauma informed instructional practices and services.
