Using Universal Design for Learning Everywhere Always

Author: Christa Miller

Ms. Christa Miller has been working in the field of technology and disability since 2006. In her current role at Virginia Tech, she engages regularly with faculty on the inclusivity of their courses and the accessibility of their content. She is directly responsible for faculty professional development on accessible instructional materials. This takes the form of teaching formal, faculty workshops on a nearly weekly basis as well as many one-time consultations with everyone from teaching assistants to tenured professors. She also performs guest lectures to undergraduate and graduate classes on a variety of accessibility topics throughout the academic year. As part of the Accessible Technologies group within the Division of Information Technology, she aims to continually push the boundaries of who is tasked with accessibility and how accessible content is created, curated, and maintained. Ms. Miller regularly presents at Accessing Higher Ground and is president-elect of the AHEAD in VA
